About Us
BAT is a leading, multi-category consumer goods business. Our purpose is to build A Better Tomorrow™ by reducing the health impact of our business through offering adult consumers a greater choice of products that are enjoyable and carry less risk than continuing to smoke cigarettes.*
We are firmly committed to the boldest transformation any industry has ever seen, making significant investments in research and development. Our work in creating innovative new products for our consumers, such as the Vuse ePod, named product of the year in 2020, is truly industry leading.
Sustainability is front and centre in all that we do, and we have a long and proud history of sustainability achievements. BAT is proud to be the only company in our industry to have been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices’ prestigious World Index in 2020.
In 2014, working with Mapp BioPharmaceuticals, in partnership with the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA), we developed a treatment for Ebola based on the tobacco plant and today we are working on a potential Covid-19 vaccine.
We know that our success in building A Better Tomorrow™ requires us to tap into the broadest range of talent available. From the top down we believe in the benefits of having a diverse and inclusive workforce. Don’t just take our word for it.
In November 2020, BAT was recognised as a Financial Times Diversity Leader for the second consecutive year. The inaugural Leaders in Diversity report, which lists the top 700 companies across 10 European countries, recognises companies that have achieved a diverse and inclusive workforce across a number of criteria.
In 2021, we are proud to have been recognised as Global Top Employer for the fourth consecutive year.
